3M Color Stable 5 is a dark shade in the 3M Color Stable automotive window-film family. Color Stable is a separate product family, not a Ceramic IR or FX-Series product.

Published Reference Performance

In 3M reference data for Color Stable applied to Auto 75 automotive glass, Color Stable 5 is listed at approximately 7% VLT, 64% TSER, 99% UV block, 94% glare reduction and 63% infrared energy rejection. These are typical reference values for the stated glazing and test configuration, not guaranteed installed results for every vehicle.

What the Numbers Mean

VLT describes visible light transmitted through filmed glass. TSER describes total solar energy rejected. UV block and infrared-energy rejection are separate measurements. A very dark VLT does not make the other metrics interchangeable.

Factory Glass and Final Appearance

The vehicle’s original glass changes the final installed VLT and appearance. Color Stable 5 creates a very dark result on many glazing configurations, so visibility, privacy and the intended glass position should be assessed on the actual vehicle.

Signal Compatibility

Color Stable is non-metallized. 3M states that the series is designed not to interfere with electronics, GPS, satellite radio or mobile devices, including 5G.
