What Is 3M Color Stable 35?
3M Color Stable 35 is a medium-dark shade in the 3M Color Stable automotive window-film family. Color Stable is a separate non-metallized 3M film family and should not be labelled as a generic “ceramic CS-Series.”
Published Reference Performance
In 3M reference data for Color Stable applied to Auto 75 automotive glass, Color Stable 35 is listed at approximately 32% VLT, 55% TSER, 98% UV block, 56% glare reduction and 58% infrared energy rejection. These figures are typical reference values for the stated test configuration, not guaranteed results for all vehicles.
How to Read the Data
VLT describes visible light transmitted through filmed glass. TSER describes total solar energy rejected. UV block, glare reduction and infrared-energy rejection are separate measurements and should be compared together rather than reduced to one “heat percentage.”
Factory Glass and Appearance
The final installed VLT depends on the vehicle’s factory glass as well as the film. Color Stable 35 may therefore produce a different finished result on two vehicles with different original glazing.
Signal Compatibility
3M describes Color Stable as non-metallized and designed not to interfere with electronics, satellite radio, GPS or mobile devices, including 5G.
Current Vehicle Requirements
The shade name alone does not prove whether a finished window meets current requirements. Check the vehicle category, glass position, jurisdiction and combined glass-plus-film result before installation.
