3M Color Stable 35 Car Tint in Dubai
Lighter 3M Color Stable shade for more daylight, moderate privacy and reduced glare.
Color Stable 35 in Four Numbers
The published figures for CS 35 on automotive glass, and what each one means.
Visible light
A brighter cabin and better outward visibility than CS 5 or CS 20.
Heat rejected (TSER)
Total solar energy rejected on automotive glass.
Infrared rejected
Infrared rejection in the 900 to 1,000 nm band.
Legal on a private car?
At 32 percent it is below the 50 percent limit for a private car’s side and rear glass, so it needs an approved exemption.

3M Color Stable 35: Daylight, Privacy and Visibility
3M Color Stable 35 is the lightest of the three Color Stable shades we list. On 73 percent VLT automotive glass 3M lists it at 32 percent visible light, 55 percent total solar energy rejected, 39 percent infrared rejection and 56 percent glare reduction. It keeps the cabin brighter with moderate privacy, and at 32 percent it is still below the 50 percent limit for the side and rear glass of private cars in Dubai.
3M Color Stable 35 is the lighter shade page in Car Cool’s Color Stable group. Compared with CS 20 and CS 5, it transmits more visible light, so it gives a brighter cabin and stronger outward visibility while still providing a charcoal appearance, UV rejection and some daytime privacy.
The useful relationship on this page is higher VLT → more daylight and visibility → less privacy than darker shades. Compare CS 20 or CS 5 if you want a darker appearance. For a broader comparison with Ceramic IR, Crystalline or FX-ST, use the automotive window tinting guide.
Color Stable 35 Performance and Shade Characteristics
3M reference data on 73% VLT automotive green glass: Color Stable 35 is listed at 32% VLT, 55% TSER, 39% infrared rejection (IRR), 58% infrared energy rejection (IRER), 98% UV rejection and 56% glare reduction.
Shade position: CS 35 preserves more visible light than CS 20 and CS 5, supporting a brighter cabin and stronger outward visibility while providing less privacy than the darker options.
Construction: Color Stable uses a non-metallized dyed-polyester construction designed for a stable charcoal appearance without relying on a metallic layer.
The figures above are reference data for the stated glass condition. Compare CS 20, CS 5 and the Color Stable range before choosing a shade.

Three Color Stable 35 Myths
Three assumptions drivers make about lighter charcoal film.
A 35 film is legal on the front windows
It reads 32 percent on automotive glass, below the 50 percent limit for private cars. Only lighter films pass on the front sides.
Lighter film gives little heat protection
CS 35 still rejects 55 percent of solar energy on automotive glass and blocks 98 percent of UV.
All 35 shades perform the same
At a similar shade, 3M lists 39 percent infrared rejection for CS 35 and 99 percent for Crystalline CR 40.

Frequently Asked Questions About Color Stable 35
What is 3M Color Stable 35?
Color Stable 35 is the lighter shade in this Car Cool Color Stable group. It favors daylight and outward visibility more than CS 20 or CS 5 while retaining a charcoal appearance and moderate daytime privacy.
What does 3M publish for CS 35?
On the 73% VLT automotive green-glass reference used in 3M’s Color Stable brochure, CS 35 is listed at 32% VLT, 55% TSER, 39% IRR, 58% IRER, 98% UV rejection and 56% glare reduction.
Is CS 35 more private than CS 20?
No. CS 35 transmits more visible light, so it normally provides less daytime privacy than CS 20 while preserving more outward visible light.
Does a lighter shade automatically mean poor heat performance?
No. Shade darkness is described by VLT. Solar-energy performance should be compared with TSER and the stated reference-glass condition.
Does Color Stable interfere with phone or GPS signals?
Color Stable is non-metallized, so the film construction is designed to avoid the radio-frequency interference associated with some metallized films. Reception can still depend on the vehicle, antennas, devices and network conditions.
Which Color Stable shade should I compare with CS 35?
Compare CS 20 for more privacy or CS 5 for the darkest appearance in this group. Return to the Color Stable range for the family-level comparison.
Appearance, reflectivity and signal behaviour
3M Color Stable 35 is a dyed, non-metallised construction. Non-metallised film keeps exterior reflectivity low, so from outside the glass reads as dark rather than mirrored, and it carries none of the signal-interference concern associated with metal-containing films. GPS, mobile data and 5G are unaffected. If low exterior reflectivity matters for the look of the car, this is the attribute to compare, not the shade number.
What the law allows in Dubai
The UAE permits up to 50 percent tint on the side and rear windows of a private vehicle, and the front windscreen must stay clear unless an exemption has been approved. At a nominal 35 percent visible light transmission, CS 35 sits below the permitted limit, so on a private car it needs an approved exemption for any side or rear window. The factory glass underneath pulls the finished reading down further. The reading is taken on the finished window, which is the film plus the glass already fitted to the car, so a nominal shade number does not by itself prove compliance. Have the installed glass measured before you commit. See car window tint law in Dubai for the limit, the fine and how exemptions work.
Warranty and documentation
3M warranty terms vary by market, film version, installer and documentation. Before installation, confirm the exact film series and shade being fitted, the written warranty term that applies to it, and what that term covers. Keep the invoice and the product documentation supplied with the job. Clear product identification and a proper invoice are stronger trust signals than a general performance claim.
What it costs
Price is driven by the film series, how many glass panels are covered, the shape of the glass, whether old film has to be removed first, and the warranty attached. See what car window tinting costs in Dubai, and car tint removal if the vehicle already has film on it.
